I bought two of these as we moved near high powerlines. One of the pieces arrived non-working, but I was lazy and didn't ship it back. I later asked PGE to come take EMF reading around the house (they do it free, if you call their customer line). Anyway, they tried with and without this thing, and readings came same (even with their emf sensor sitting on top of it).

I recently found out the dangers of Electromagnetic radiation. I work with computers and TV monitors all day. I have easily been exposing myself to tons of EMF radiation. I bought one of these to see the results. I need four more to get my house covered. It seems odd that we are all surrounded by electronics on a major level and we are not protecting our natural bodies from the dangerous byproducts. I received the EMF Filter in just two days. The picture on Amazon doesn't show how well constructed it is. And the price was much less than the one shown. Plainlywrapped has got nicer ones than shown. It was easy to plug in and worked right away. Once I put these in all the rooms of my house I will have eliminated all the electromagnetic radiation emitted. I know I feel safer, I wish we all had these.

The Belkin Conserve Insight is a very nice piece of hardware and has a number of advantages over the Kill-A-Watt. Firstly, there are three outputs.
1) lbs/CO2 per year (or month)
2) $/year (or month)
3) Watts
Both the CO2 and $ setting can be adjusted to account for the cost and CO2 intensity for your local utility.

Averaging. One very nice feature is that after 45 minutes, the Conserve Insight goes in to averaging mode and displays the projected CO2 and $ per year. This is excellent for appliances that are turned on and off like a laptop or a refrigerator. The Watt display, however does not average. It shows the realtime updates.

Location, Location, Location: The small display for the Conserve Insight is located on the end of a 5 foot long cord. I used to own a Kill-A-Watt, buy spilled water on it so I looked after a replacement.

I got this after reading good reviews. I was warned about the lack of functionality, but thought to myself 'surely, it can't be that bad'. It turns out it IS that bad.

Here's what I did:
After setting up the price per kWh, I plugged my small washing machine in it and ran a load. I could see the real time wattage as it was running through its different stages, and that was great. At the end, it showed me the dollar / year and dollar /month amounts. However, that is meaningless to me. I would like to know how many watts or dollars the machine used during the cycle, and it will NOT show you that. I'd like to know whether it cost me 10 cents or 30 cents to run a load. Same thing with my TV. I'd like to know the price of watching TV for one hour.

Kill-a-Watt was bulkier but offered exact and valuable numbers, not CO2 crap.

I was waiting for this product to be available for long time since I wanted to measure my computer system power consumption.

This product is uniquely convenient because you can put the display at eye level, i has a 5-foot tethered cable, not like the similar priced [[ASIN: B000RGF29Q Kill-a-Watt EZ]] and others which have the display right in the device plugged into the socket, this makes reading or monitoring very hard for most of us who has the wall socket low and usually hard to reach where all the cables are. This was a Deal Breaker for me.

The price is relatively OK to Expensive, Base on the quality and features, I think $20 should be the sweet spot price and would make the majority buy it.

The manufacturer did not say the % accuracy, but based on its reading with nothing plugged in, it reads 0-0.5W, I would guess it has <0.5% accuracy, someone correct me if i'm wrong.

This tiny little device detects radiation from home appliances like microwave, PC, TV, cell phones. Very easy to use. I didn't even open the instruction. I used it around the home and did find some hot spots (areas with high EMF radiation levels) that were surprising, like microwave (even when it's NOT on), laptop keyboards, and even the electric alarm clock on the nightstand next to my pillow! Also both of our cell phones were 'high' the second a call comes in - I guess we need to update our n-year old phones.
It would be better if it has warning sounds...but I guess the lights are ok for now.

The documentation I got with my house showed a radon reading above 50.0 before a mitigation system was installed and < 4.0 after it was installed.
The radon mitigation fan broke and I falsely thought painting / sealing the basement floor (years ago) would stop the radon.
After plugging in this unit I got a reading (after a few days) around 10.0 and it went up day by day. I replaced the mitigation fan when the reading was around 20.0. This unit then showed the level go down each day (took about 2 weeks to get to safe level).
Highly recommend this considering you can spend $15.00 a pop on those radon testers you mail in. One I used said I had a safe level.

Though the interface is a bit clunky the device really works great!
I would never again bother with those mail-in radon detectors again -- save to validate the machine -- as our device's values were shown to be the same. But, unlike those mail-in cans the results are delivered within the two days (the device needs that amount of time to calculate a moving average) instead of a month.
Thanks to the device I was warned of a 4.5 pico curie level in my basement. After having a radon mitigation system installed, the device showed the level dropping to 1.6.
A friend of mine, more out of curiosity, asked to borrow the device. He put it in his basement expecting nothing much. A few days later he heard a fire-alarm like siren coming from the basement. He'd forgotten about the detector. When he finally realized it was the radon detector he was shocked to find his basement had a radon level of 13! One neighbor in my development had a high test off a 4-day test ($30 charge) and it sent the other homeowners out to buy more of the $30 test kits and test their own homes. I was one of those. I spent $30 to find out I was at 13. Then I did a bunch of online research and found out that 4-day tests are very misleading because they can spike for a variety of reasons like if the ground is frozen, or it rains. Both of those scenarios were in play during my test. Some of the neighbors went out and spent money on abatement and a few more tests, so they are at $90 (+ abatement) and I assume they'll be doing more tests periodically to see if the abatement is still working. I got the Pro 3 and have had it going for a week now. My test kit for $30 said my reading was 13, but after 48 hours with the Pro 3 my first reading was about half that, 7.7. Then it went down to 4.8, and now it went back up to 8.0, all within 7 days. Why not buy the Pro 3 and get a more accurate reading over time?

How often do you buy a product that changes what you do?

I became aware of EMF problems because of a friend who has power lines just outside her condo. After considerable research, I bought the TriField meter as the best product for the money. BTW I found that it's slightly cheaper plus free shipping if you make an offer on eBay to buy it. This product is great! Clear directions, and measures all the stuff that's important.

Here's what I'm now doing differently:
1. I rearranged our TVs so the older high-radiation sets are in rooms we don't use very often.

I recently purchased one of the TriField EMF meters. I am a realtor and I had a client concerned about EMF from nearby power lines, so I decided to do my own test. Everyone has heard about the possible health threat from EMF. Any reading above 3 is not suppose to be exposed to for long periods of time. I checked with the power company and they stated the power lines were 12Kv which is low compared to high voltage transmission lines on towers. Wow, was I shocked and amazed. By the house and below the lines the readings were 15-20. I backed down the street away from the lines and I experienced high levels of exposure pass the second house on the block. We also recently purchased a massage bed and usually laid on it for 30 minute sessions. This too had extremely high EMF readings in the 20+ range. Forget about paranormal and ghost detection. I have this in my arsenal of tech toys as well as a K-II. I tend to use this EMF meter more. Reasons why are for the simple fact that any fluctuation detected on the high scale will light up the top of the device like a Christmas tree. This is handy for doing an investigation in the dark. Something else that I really love is the fact that it has a speaker output with a volume control. As far as it's sensitivity, it's just as sensitive as a K-II meter yet you can buy this for half the cost.

I bought this device to detect the radiation at my home, but despite it being named "cell sensor", I was unable to detect the cell phone signal from my iPhone 3G. I followed the direction, did the 90 degrees and 8 inch apart as described in the manual, put the probe next to the sensor, put it on the sensitive setting, and... detected nothing. Then during a call, I tried moving the cell phone in all angle combinations... nothing. I thought I had a defective unit, so I requested a replacement, got another brand new unit, and did the exact same thing. Nothing... the needle stays around 0. Same goes with wireless mouse and baby monitors. How do you make a "cell sensor" that doesn't sense a cell phone is beyond me.

On the other hand, this device works well detecting EMF from appliances such as refrigerator, microwave, lights, etc. Not sure it has really helped me avoid EMF energy other than confirm there's EMF emitting from electronic devices, and to stay 6 feet away... Read more

Works great! Push button on and go, it'll light up when EMF is detected letting you know without even looking at it, and the two modes (normal or high) are great if you need more precise or more broad of a reading, normal read 0 to 50 milligauss, and high reads 0 to 5. I haven't used the EML mode much so I won't rate that, but it does work. Plus the probe is seperate so you can move it around to get a tri-field effect for better readings. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 rating is that I don't think the range is very good, I think three, maybe four feet is the maximum range, but that's good enough for me.

For the past few years I used the SunForce 7A charge controller and it worked very well. When I added another panel to my small system I upgraded to this model to handle the extra few amps.

This charger is really a step above the SunForce model in the same price range. It is not simply an "on/off" solid state switch... it controls/limits the current to the batteries to maintain a very precise voltage. When the batteries have been fully charged, it then float-charges at a constant rate. This will keep the batteries much healthier over time than simply cycling between 13.1V and 14.2V. If you are using SLA or Gel-SLA batteries, I think you'll really find this charger is made for these types of batteries.

I like the output load control. A simple push-button on the front of the unit turns the load on/off, and the small "digital LED display" is just a red LED indicating if the load is on. It doesn't give any sort of digital readout like the details above... Read more

There was a good week delay before this vendor shipped. The product is very straightforward to hook up, and has reversed polarity protection. The green lights on the unit were indicating my battery was fully charged, yet it was only at 12.2 V (not fully charged at all). As one other person indicated, the low-voltage cut off is fairly low, and your battery would be severely depleted before disconnecting. Having a higher voltage cut off would be much better for the battery. This is basically an entry-level controller, so I figured I'd got about what I paid for. I would certainly not choose as controller for a large array, but for one or 2 panels it should perform adequately. I have yet to check the higher voltage cut off, but is it supposed to kick off at 13.1 V. The maximum input voltage is supposed to be about 14.4 V, and have not seen readings higher than this. Images SI Inc's Digital Geiger Counters are useful for detecting and measuring radioactivity. The model GCA-04-C has an internal geiger mueller tube. It's applications are: Education - Classroom demonstrations and experiments; Emergency Services and Domestic Preparedness; HAZMAT and Compliance Verification; Dirty Bomb Screening and EMT's. It detects the following types of radiation: Alpha above 3 MeV; Beta above 50 KeV; X-rays above 50 KeV, Gamma above 7 KeV. The Geiger Mueller (GM) Tube detector is Ne + Halogen filled. The GM tube's has a .38 effective diameter 1.5-2.0 mg/cm2 mica end window. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is 16 character by 2 line that provides an easy to read output. This is a fun toy to use for science projects. I can't comment on its accuracy one bit, though it's clear that it does work. (Point it at your smoke detector or old watch face.) The manufacturer claims to sell a lab-calibrated version.

I used it to take readings of some granite boulders in the California Sierras that I suspected of contributing to some unusual radon levels on some property I'm developing there. (Yes, they measured "above background".)

The detector doesn't have a whole lot of surface area (like some of the other competing solutions) but depending on your need, this might or might not be a problem.

The box *looks* like a science project too. The case is a run-of-the-mill project case you could find at Radio Shack, and the display pokes through a cut-out on the top. A small microprocessor inside talks to the the displays, and allows you to gather count data through an RS-232 (DB-9) serial connector poking out on the right... Read more

It is quite simple to operate: you press a button over its side and after 2 secs it flashes the led scale, indicating that it is operating.

It has a 10 led scale, ranging from 1.5 Milligauss up to 30 milligauss. The scale is color coded, indicating normal, warning and dangerous EMF levels.

It senses EMF radiation thru a one axis mobile sensor head, which you can accomodate to do comfortable readings.

I found out that cheap CRT TV are well into the dangerous level, particularly from their backs, even one or more meters away.

When placed near my laptop, I can see the EMF sensor SCALE jump up and down in accordance with my laptop's processor / hd / whatever activity.

When driving, I turn it on while passing below the high voltage lines and it jumps into the red ...

Hi, this little detector taught me some interesting things about common applicances and phones in my home that surprised me. It is helpful to know what is emitting "unsafe" amounts of electromanetic fields. It also helped to figure out how far away you should be to stay in a safe zone. The only problem with this particular unit, and since it is very inexpensive maybe it is ok, is that you have to push the button more than once to get it to operate. Other than that it is very easy to use. If you are thinking of ghost hunting with it, I doubt this is the one for you, because once you press the button it takes one reading, the lights go up and down the indicator area to tell you about what the measurement is and then it stops, requiring you to press the button again, meaning it is only good for one reading at a time. For the ghost huntering you would need one that is continuiously checking, not simply on then off.

From the picture, you would think it's a cheap, hardly-working machine. I took a chance on it, and it turned out to be much better than expected. I thought the lights would just stay at a certain level for a particular reading. In actuality, you press and hold the on button, and the lights go up and down as you move the machine around. The lights blink and move dynamically as you scan the area for EMFs. I am not sure as to it's accuracy, and I am certainly not going to buy a more expensive model, but this little machine seems to work real well. At the least, it will give you a basic indication of EMFs in your area. I tried it with laptops, TVs, and other electrical appliances. Each time, the lights went up when I got near those items.

I like this machine. It's nice and economical.

I like the meter, it found several hotspots in our house almost immediately. For that I consider it a priceless addition to the home to keep EMF levels under control. In addition, this meter prompted relocation of the kids beds away from a medium level EMF source (power meter on outside wall).

3 emails to the company for tech support remain unanswered, so don't count on any responses or support from this company. For that I am deducting 1 full star. When will these companies learn that they need to actually respond to their customer emails if they want continued business?

This is a great little meter; solid and well-made. I use it for measuring EMF around the house. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't come with any information about how to use it - I have used an EMF meter before so I know what kind of fields to expect, the need to rotate the meter sometimes to catch the fields, and etc. But if I didn't already know this, it would be a problem. The meter also has an ELF setting and I don't know anything about that.

I used this gaussmeter to check the magnetic fields for installing a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Fields over 0.5 Gauss can cause problems in imaging using SEM. This meter was of very good help in the preliminary check for the fields. Some times this meter was too sensitive but it is OK (cross calibaration using a multi-thousand dollar gauss meter by a professional).

At 75$, I strongly recommend this product for testing any fields as low as 0.5 gauss.

When we found cracks in the containment structure, we used to have to shut the whole plant down; then there was a lot of hassle with the nuclear regulatory agency about structural integrity and environmental contamination. With this quality duct tape, that's all in the past. Now, when we see a cracked or crumbling wall, we just bring out the tape. The slate blue blends right in. I do recommend that you use use double layers for openings near the reactor core.

After a long night of beer and hot wings, I decided to overnight this tape to my house, as I knew what was going to happen.

After the epic birthing of a giant brown monster, I used 3M's performance plus nuclear tape to seal around the bathroom's door into the bedroom. To my surprise, my wife and children never did smell what I had to endure.

After 5 months, 29 days, I removed the tape, and I was happy to find no sticky residue left on the door frame.

I do see Amazon is now selling this for [...] I wish I would have waited, as I did pay full price.

When I'm flying my Type 40 across the universe, sometimes cracks start appearing in time. Just slap some Nuclear Grade duct tape on there and it'll patch it right up. It's also great for reversing the neutron polarity flow, but I can't say it helped fix up the Chameleon Circuit. My Type 40 is stuck as a blue police box now. Sometimes my Time Vortex acts up, but I just slap on some more Nuclear Grade Performance Plus 3M Duct Tape, and the sexy thing just fires back into life. It also helps protect against Dalek and Cybermen attacks.

Sexy never complains when I patch her up with 3M Performance Plus Nuclear Duct Tape. The Slate Blue blends right into the police box. I had to buy my second roll when the Master stole my last roll.

This stuff is so amazing, sometimes I think it's made out of wibbley, wobbley, timey, whimey...stuff.

Delivery was quick no matter where I was in space and time.

Have had this flexible solar panel for just a few days so far. This panel has grommets along the edges for easy mounting, I used rubber tarp straps to mount this to a 100 gallon cylindrical fuel tank. It charges the deep cycle battery that runs the pump that was already in place. I used to put the battery on a charger every night the pump was used, with the solar charge is not necessary, is virtually maintenance free now. I bought a square framed panel first, did not take long to figure out this was going to be a nightmare getting a square panel mounted to a round tank. With this flex style do not have to worry about rocks and gravel kicking up on the panel either. This is a perfect solution, looks to be well made, hopefully I will get many years of use out of it too.

I have only had this one for about a month, and it works well to keep the battery on my boat charged. It is lighter and thinner than the others I have bought at the same power level.

While it is flexible, it is not as flexible as the Amazon write up makes it look. Not a big problem, but it affects how you can mount it.

I got a HQRP 30W Flexible Solar Panel Power 30 Watt 12V Mono-crystalline PV Module for my boat to replace an ancient 11 watt Flx-11 solar panel that is no longer made. The HQRP 30 Watt panel is roughly 16 X 34 inches. The old 11 watt panel was 30 inches by 16 inches. 19 more watts, in 4 inches more length, shows a LOT more watt density than in Ye Olden Dayes! It sits on a Bimini Top on my sailboat, so I had to round off the sharp corners on the aluminum sheet substrate with some tin-snips. It's been installed for three weeks now and even with all the rain plaguing the Southeastern U.S. lately, STILL keeps my Group 29 battery fully float-charged into a solar array charger. The grommets were useful for tying to my Bimini Top frame.
A good buy, with good performance; what more could you ask?

Why not that (coveted) 5th star?
